What is district soccer?
District Competition soccer is more competitive than recreation youth soccer and more affordable than “club soccer.” With an emphasis on player development, all teams will be coached by trained parents or volunteers from the community. Teams will typically play 1-2 games per week and practice 1-2 times per week. Players will have the opportunity to stay with their teams over multiple seasons and will compete against other nearby teams without the need of excessive travel.
District soccer is still considered “recreation soccer” by Utah Youth Soccer Association (UYSA), although it’s much more organized and competitive than traditional municipal soccer. Basically, district soccer offers the best of both worlds: lower fees (and travel costs) but better organization and competition. In other words, your child will play against other district teams for a higher level of play; the referees are stricter to encourage better play from your child; and Provo Fury’s volunteer coaches will receive training from UYSA and will also be encouraged to earn their Grassroots License.
